Governance & Ethics FAQ

Questions about our clinical governance, privacy, and ethical framework.

What is the difference between therapeutic and medical services?
Therapeutic services support wellness, recovery, and functional improvement without diagnosing conditions or prescribing treatments. Medical services include diagnosis, prescription, and treatment of disease, which require licensed physicians. Maison Ipanema provides only therapeutic services.
Through comprehensive intake assessments, ongoing monitoring, staff training in red flag recognition, clear referral protocols, and collaboration with independent physicians when medical evaluation is indicated.
If our clinical team identifies signs or symptoms requiring medical evaluation, we immediately inform the client and facilitate referral to an appropriate physician. We do not attempt to diagnose or treat medical conditions.
For certain services, particularly postoperative rehabilitation, we may request documentation from the treating physician. This ensures services are appropriate and coordinated with medical care.
We comply with GDPR and Belgian privacy law. Data is stored securely, accessed only by authorized staff, and shared with third parties only with explicit consent. You have rights to access, correct, and request deletion of your data.
Yes. Under GDPR, you have the right to access your personal data. You can request a copy of your clinical records by contacting our office. We will respond within 30 days.

We adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines established by relevant professional bodies. Our clinical governance framework is designed to exceed industry standards for therapeutic care.
