Services

Which Procedures?

Maison Ipanema Institute specialises in postoperative lymphatic drainage and recovery support after plastic surgery. We offer professional support for clients recovering from a wide range of procedures — from liposuction, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and BBL to facelift, chin liposuction and mommy makeover.

Our support includes massage after liposuction, lymphatic drainage after abdominoplasty, fibrosis management and comprehensive postoperative rehabilitation. We are based in Maasmechelen, Limburg, and welcome clients from across Belgium and the Dutch border region.

Our work focuses on reducing swelling after plastic surgery, helping to reduce the risk of fibrosis after liposuction and optimising tissue recovery. Each session is individually tailored to the type of procedure and the stage of recovery.

Our therapeutic protocol

Our Clinical Approach

Our structured care pathway ensures consistent, high-quality support — from the initial assessment to the end of recovery. Each phase is aligned with the biological healing mechanisms of the tissue.

Scientifically grounded

Your Recovery after Surgery

Our therapeutic interventions are aligned with the biological healing phases of the tissue. Each session supports the body at the right moment in its own recovery process.

Phase 1 — Inflammation (days 1–7)

Days 1 to 7 after the procedure. The body responds to surgical trauma with swelling, warmth and increased lymph production. Gentle lymphatic drainage after liposuction supports fluid clearance and eases discomfort. Compression is carefully monitored.

Phase 2 — Proliferation (weeks 2–6)

Weeks 2 to 6. Active tissue rebuilding and collagen synthesis. Targeted interventions help reduce the risk of fibrosis after liposuction and support supple tissue recovery. More intensive postoperative lymphatic drainage during this phase can be particularly beneficial.

Phase 3 — Remodelling (weeks 6–12+)

Weeks 6 to 12 and beyond. Scar maturation and tissue reorganisation. Long-term management of fibrosis and any asymmetry. For procedures such as lipo 360, VASER lipo or HD lipo , this phase is particularly important for an optimal final outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about postoperative lymphatic drainage, swelling after plastic surgery and our care pathway.

Is lymphatic drainage really necessary after liposuction?

Yes. Lymphatic drainage after liposuction is an essential part of recovery. After liposuction, abdominoplasty or BBL, the body produces excess lymphatic fluid in response to surgical trauma. Professional lymphatic drainage can help support fluid clearance, reduce swelling, help reduce the risk of fibrosis and support the quality of the final result. Maison Ipanema Institute does not provide medical treatment — our support is non-medical and therapeutic, complementary to the medical care provided by your surgeon.

The right moment to start depends on the type of procedure and always on your surgeon’s approval. Care can often begin within the first week, with a very gentle approach. After an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) or mommy makeover, the starting point is determined individually. We always coordinate with the surgical team.

Fibrosis after liposuction is excessive collagen formation during the healing phase, which can lead to firm areas, irregularities or asymmetry. Our specialised sessions focus on the early recognition and management of fibrotic tissue changes. Through targeted massage techniques, lymphatic drainage and therapeutic interventions, we help soften fibrotic areas and support supple, even tissue recovery. In cases of complex fibrosis, we refer to our medical network.

Yes. We always require medical clearance from your surgeon before beginning postoperative support. We communicate proactively with your treating team and align our therapeutic protocol with your medical record. This collaboration ensures safe, coherent care.

Contact your surgeon immediately if you experience unusual pain, fever, a significant increase in swelling, wound-care problems or any other concerning symptoms. Maison Ipanema Institute provides therapeutic support — we are not a medical facility. For any medical concerns, we always refer you to your treating physician.

There is no standard number of sessions. It depends on the procedure (for example liposuction, BBL, lipo 360, tummy tuck or facelift), on your tissue and on how healing progresses. After the first assessment we discuss a realistic, tailored plan.

Yes. We regularly support clients who have had their procedure performed abroad. We always request the postoperative guidelines from your treating surgeon and adapt our protocol accordingly. For clients from the Netherlands and Germany, our location in Maasmechelen (Limburg, Belgium) is easily accessible.

The Neiva Cimini Method is an exclusive approach to lymphatic drainage that integrates anatomical precision, in-depth physiological knowledge of the lymphatic system, fascial recovery and manual neuromodulation. This method is applied in all postoperative support at Maison Ipanema Institute and is designed to support recovery after plastic surgery as effectively as possible.
